Multiculturalism in counseling is acknowledging how various parts of an individual's cultural identity and enviornment may impact their mental health and well-being. This counseling framework is appreciating the reality that individuals are not all the same and that their ethnicity, race, gender, orientation, and cultural context are important factors of who they are. We are privilege to utilize this specialty because it's essential in the diverse society that is only shaping to become more diverse. We take an holistic approach in understanding, acknowleding, and addressing the needs of those we serve within the diverse population.
